Roti Canai...

There are many places that sells Roti Canai (pronounced Chanai and not Kanai) in Penang. I can't exactly remember the number of places I've patronised that sells this Indian food. All I can remember is this stall. How different is this stall from the rest? The difference is the way he prepares the canai. Most roti canai is a bit soggy/moist on the inside. There is always this taste of flour when you chew on the canai. The way this man cooks the canai is different. It is a bit crispy not just on the outside but also on the inside. [For all those who aren't familiar with this bread, it is actually a type of flat bread. It is cooked on a flat iron skillet with a lot of oil.] He serves the roti canai with his type of curry which is sardine based. I find that very delactable compared to what other stalls serve their roti canai with that is, the paruppu curry which can be watery and bland many times. Of course, you can order chicken curry or other curries to eat with roti canai. Then, it will be extra cost, no? Just in case you are wondering where to find this stall. It is at this coffee shop situated next to Jalan 4 in Air Itam. Lasia is the name. Enjoy :o)
